September was all about getting to know your child.
n French, we reviewed letters, colours and classroom words.
In Social Studies, the students talked about their families and about themselves.
October flew by! We discussed Thanksgiving and the French words associated with that special day. We also learned new Halloween words and dressed up on Halloween day. We had a dance in the gym and then a costume parade. The Grade 1 classes rotated through each class to participate in a special Halloween activity. It was great fun!
We are continuing to learn about roles and responsibilities in Social Studies.
In Science, we are continuing to learn about seasons, and the changes we see during each season.
November was a month to remember and thank our soldiers. We made postcards with our Grade 5 buddies for Canadian veterans to thank them for their service.
In our observance of Treaties Week, we learned what a promise means.
In Science, we finished up our unit on seasonal changes and started to learn about different materials we use in our daily lives.
December was a busy one! We learned Christmas and winter words, and practiced our holiday concert song.
In Science, we talked continued learning about materials and where they come from and how we use them.
January flew by! We learned new winter words in French.
In Science, we talked about different structures we see all around us.
